Description

Snapshot is a semi-autobiographical "snapshot" of my journey towards realising and accepting my sexuality. The game encourages you to explore the bedroom of a teenage girl, with each interaction unlocking the next section of narrative. The game emphasises the importance of the media we consume in the formation of our identities, even in ways we don't completely understand.

History

In 2016, I realised that the musical RENT had a profound impact on my identity formation while I was in high school, which was something I didn't understand at the time. After figuring this out (and rewatching the musical in full), I started thinking more about the events and media that also impacted on the process of coming out to myself.

Snapshot was written as a self-reflective examination of how I came to terms with my own identity; although there were some liberties taken with the timeline, all of the events and thoughts captured in the game are autobiographical.

Features

  • Semi-autobiographical exploration of sexuality and coming out
  • Interactive SVG voxel art and relevant narrative components
